Rotary Support for Friends of the Library
The Rotary Club of Cashiers Valley has been a consistent supporter. In 2016, it donated $2000.00 to buy a new computer for children's activities. Because of this support, the library can offer Story time for the little children, Legos for ones a bit older and crafts for the middle school children. There are songs and music to be accessed off the internet, puppets to make and expanded youth programs during the year. The Rotary grant has once again made a huge difference in the well-being of our library and its ability to better serve our community."
In 2014, it awarded a $1,500.00 grant to enhance the library's non-fiction audiobook collection. Librarian Serenity Richards says there is an active group of dedicated non-fiction listeners in the Cashiers area. "Our non-fiction collection is really quite popular; unfortunately, non-fiction audiobooks can be far more expensive than fiction audiobooks. We try to keep the non-fiction refreshed through library rental programs, but his money will allow us to permanently add some great foundation titles that we haven't been able to provide before now."
