July 10, 2023
To fulfill our mission to support and enrich the Library through advocacy, fundraising, and activities, we were busy last year. We contributed direct financial support to the Library in excess of $45,000. Grants from local charities made up more than a third of our income in FY 2022-2023, and we are grateful. Still, most of our fundraising comes from your membership dues and from bookstore sales. We look forward to new and renewing memberships from residents and finding new ways to partner with local businesses.
Fun and education remained important for FRIENDS. We are in the midst of a Summer Speakers Series. With a strong showing by our volunteers, we offered used books at a week-long Book Clearance. In June, we presented a magical concert experience as our gift to the Cashiers community.
As always, I am so grateful to the Library staff, led by the incomparable Serenity Richards and Megan Potts. They are the secret sauce in everything we do.
When this board elected me as president of the board of directors in 2019, things were uncertain, and got much more anxious as we endured the pandemic. Yet, here we are making progress. As I leave the office of President and we welcome officers for the next year, I know I have left behind an organization that is solid in its structure and organization, and well positioned to increase our support for this Library in the future.
Thank you for your membership in the Friends of the Library.
