The Friends of the Cashiers Albert Carlton Library operates the Library Bookstore. The Bookstore sells donated new and gently used quality books to benefit the Library. Have you ever wondered what those benefits are? They include the following: programs for all ages, computer setup and access to internet, classes in understanding new internet technology, children’s reading , storytelling, movies, programs including nature, drama, music and other offerings. All donations and sales assist the public library in its non-profit domain.
What do you like to read? The Bookstore sells fiction in three categories – hard copy, trade copy and mass market copy. We have biography, nature, science, politics, business, history military/general, literature, gardening, cookbooks, health/diet, children’s books on three levels, and much more. For donation, we accept all categories, in good shape, as well as PC games, puzzles, DVD’s and CD books. We also offer gift certificates for those who love books and love those who enjoy books. Please visit us when you are in Cashiers and enjoy our treasures!
The Friends of the Albert Carlton Cashiers Community Library celebrated the official opening of the expansion of their Book Store on December 4. The bookstore was expanded 500 square feet, enabling the store to sell more books and have more storage room.
Funding for the expansion was possible by a $100,000 allotment from the Jackson County Board of Commissioners. The Albert Carlton Library Foundation paid for the storage shelves as well as the bookshelves for the new space. The Friends are very excited to have more retail space as well as more storage and working space. "The community is so generous in donating their used books that last year we had to rent storage space to hold them for the bookstore's annual Book Clearance," said Board President Adair Simon.
Please visit the bookstore, located past the library’s circulation desk on the left. Bookstore Co-Chairs Hedy Okolichany and Bonnie Zacher, along with a host of volunteers, have spent hours re-shelving books in the expanded areas and sorting the sale books in the storage area. This year the FOL will hold two Book Clearances: June 16-18 and Oct 13-15th.
